A hugely impressive showing from the second wine of Château Margaux. Representing 28% of the harvest and featuring a higher proportion of petit verdot than usual (10%), the additional depth, spice and dark-fruit character are clearly evident in the finished wine. Matured in 60% new oak, which will bring further savoury spice and enhance the wine’s suave tannins, the palate is full and richly fruited, laden with notes of red fruits and liquorice. With the grand vin available in exceptionally limited quantities and Pavillon Rouge released at only a modest premium to the 2024, this may well be one of the smartest buys from a château that has produced one of the wines of the vintage.
