A field blend from the Mediterranean-like climate of Maule of approximately cariñena 70%, garnacha 10% and cinsault 10% with small amounts of cabernet sauvignon, carmenère, malbec, país and even some muscat and torontel. Intense yet fresh aromas of black, sun-baked fruit are backed up with a palate offering a natural old vine concentration of flavour from small yields of 24-36hl/ha. The cariñena lends great length of flavour and firm but not dry tannins. The softer and more floral garnacha and cinsault contribute the flesh around the bone offsetting the structure from the cariñena. This is not a fruit bomb, but a taut, balanced wine, ripe yet fresh, with impressive grip and controlled power. It needs a couple of years to round out the tannins when it will become a great match for oxtail, or a shoulder of lamb or pork. One of Chile’s best Mediterranean-style blends. Drink from 2028 to 2040. 14%
