Mullineux Old Vines White, Swartland 2024

Code: SA25411A1
White
Now their signature white, Mullineux Old Vines White is always a blend centred on old-vine chenin blanc accompanied by a cast of Mediterranean varieties and intended to be ‘a reflection of this incredible place'. A little over two-thirds chenin, with clairette blanche, semillon gris, grenache blanc and viognier this vintage, this is perfumed with orange and lime blossom, quince and apple. Bright, youthful and crystalline, with stony minerality, a crisp, refreshing acidity and the mid-palate texture and weight that are hallmarks of this wine (gaining textural layers with bottle age). Yet another beautiful rendition of this quintessentially Swartland white. Having tasted the spectacular 2010 at the 2025 Swartland Revolution, South Africa buyer Victoria Mason is confident to go long on the drinking window on this, which is why we're offering it in bond, for members to age in their reserves should they wish. Drink this year to 2039. 13.5%

Magnum of Porseleinberg Syrah, Swartland 2022

Code: SA22824A4
Red

A linear, tightly-packed Porseleinberg – lithe and slender with tonnes of energy, and with that signature stony grip on the finish. While a little shy at first, it opens up to reveal spicy fennel salami, dried bay leaf and rosemary notes, and violet-infused perfume with time in glass. The fruit profile starts in the red spectrum – tangy red cherry and raspberry, with a citrusy, pink-grapefruit tang – and moves towards wild blueberries, with a wonderful peppery tension on the mid-palate and fine-grained, mouth-coating tannins. Owned by Boekenhoutskloof and farmed from 2010 to 2025 by winegrower Callie Louw, Porseleinberg is one of South Africa's greatest and most sought-after wines. The 2022 in magnum is exclusive to The Wine Society in the UK. Drink from 2030 to 2042. 13.5%

A. A. Badenhorst Kalmoesfontein White Blend, Swartland 2023

Code: SA25501A1
White

A brilliant rendition of Kalmoesfontein White, this is a fruit salad of 33% chenin blanc and 28% grenache blanc, with verdelho, viognier, palomino, roussanne, sauvignon blanc, hárslevelű and marsanne. Exuberantly perfumed with a lot of florals – almond blossom and frangipani – this is instantly joyful to taste, with white peach, apricot cream, jasmine tea and lemon curd. The palate broadens towards a wonderful mid-palate weight and then tightens with a light tannic grip into a long, detailed, moreish finish with just a hint of white miso. Capable of long ageing, this is nevertheless hard to resist now. Drink this year to 2038. 14%

A. A. Badenhorst Kalmoesfontein Red Blend, Swartland 2022

Code: SA25511A1
Red

What Adi Badenhorst calls an ‘appellation Swartland’ wine, with an impressive rollcall of different grape varieties coming together to make a multi-dimensional, thrilling blend. With syrah (33%) and grenache (25%) providing the foundations, cinsault, tinta barocca, mourvèdre, cabernet sauvignon and touriga nacional all join the party, and the combined effect is superb. Spicy and open, with wild fynbos, intense black pepper, dark berry fruit, and the scent of irises, this has real depth and a sumptuous texture. Grippy on the finish, and thrumming with energy and drive, there is a sappy, fresh edge to the ripe black plum and cherry flavours. Drink this year to 2039. 14%
