Red Wine from Australia - Victoria
Perfumed and lifted from the outset, showing bright cherry, blueberry and redcurrant alongside cracked pepper and a hint of olive tapenade. The palate is silky, medium bodied and finely detailed, with fresh acidity and very refined tannins giving shape without weight. About 10% whole bunch adds aromatic spice rather than stemminess, while restrained oak keeps the fruit pristine and transparent. Bannockburn’s cool maritime-influenced Geelong site brings both savoury notes and clarity of fruit, resulting in a medium bodied, elegant and savoury shiraz which will appeal to Hermitage lovers albeit with less farmyard character. Expect this to develop graceful complexity over time.
