2024 Beaujolais Cru Case

Case of 6
0 star rating 0 Reviews
Three cru Beaujolais, two-bottles of each, picked by buyer Victoria Mason MW to show off the delights of this classically styled vintage. She and fellow buyer Harriet Kininmonth described it as 'croquant' – or crunchy– and it's a vintage that long-time supplier to The Wine Society, Alain Coudert, of Clos de la Roilette, called ‘très très Beaujolais’.

The Society's Exhibition Fleurie 2024

Voted a 2026 Wine Champion; according to our tasters, this ‘foodie gamay… really takes off on the palate (with) pepper and spice, and all things nice!’ A wine of ‘intensity rather than power’, its crunchy vibrant fruit is a great match for chicken, whether chargrilled, stuffed, marinaded or spatchcocked.

Morgon Héritage, Domaine Jean-Marc Burgaud 2024

A brand-new cuvée in the extraordinary range from Jean-Marc Burgaud, Heritage is a blend of now-declassified Côte du Py (around 0.5 hectares around the family’s house rather than on the hilltop itself) as well as some small lieux-dits in what was formerly the climat of Grand Cras. This is the first time Burgaud has blended gamay from blue schist (Côte du Py) with clay soils (Grand Cras). Smoky minerality, wild berries and tangy, sappy redcurrant fruit characterise this lithe and dynamic Morgon. The tannins are chalk-powdery, and the finish is long and peppery. An exciting debut vintage, of which only 6,000 bottles were produced

Moulin-à-Vent La Vigne de Mon Père, Elisa Guérin 2024

Elisa, fourth generation and daughter of Philippe Guerin, is now at the helm of Famille Guerin, whose small vineyard holdings include some of the most coveted terroirs in Moulin-à-Vent. Since she started making wine alongside her father in 2018, she’s been turning heads with a fresh vision and thoughtful approach to producing fine Beaujolais. Philippe retired in 2025 (though will still be seen working in the vineyards) and so Elisa is the future of this wonderful family domaine. La Vigne de Mon Père comes from four predominantly north-facing parcels, on loam and granite soils flecked with limestone. Elisa places biodiversity and soil health at the heart of her farming and embraces a hands-off philosophy in the cellar. Unfined, unfiltered and with only minimal SO₂, this is a pure and unadorned expression of Burgundian-style gamay made with whole bunches. The 2024 vintage is beautifully expressive, spicy and fragrant with crushed raspberries, rosehip and white pepper. The palate is tangy with cranberry and pink grapefruit zest and has whisper-fine tannins and a racy-fresh finish.
