Margaret River is a world class wine region far better known for its chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon than anything else! Buyer Freddy Bulmer discovered this Vermentino when travelling the region and he thought it was such a delicious taste of alternative Margaret River, perfect for our Bin Series. Vermentino is a white grape primarily found in Italy but it suits the Oceanside vineyards of this part of Western Australia and takes on a delicious, moreish salinity. The fruit is well-rounded and peachy but with a vibrant zestiness that makes it beautifully refreshing. It benefits from the combination of the Australian sunshine, boosting the ripeness of fruit, and the proximity to the ocean, which not only maintains freshness through the ocean winds but seems to impart an oyster-shell-like aromatic quality. A delicious bit of something different from this super wine region, produced by an excellent small winery who we work exclusively with in the UK. Perfect for easing into the spring and a wonderful match for shellfish, delicately spiced creamy dishes or just as an aperitif.
