Chianti Rưfina, Selvapiana 2024

Red Wine from Italy - Tuscany
0 star rating 0 Reviews
This is a beautifully balanced Chianti of great charm from an historic estate in the Rufina Valley whose wines are noted for finesse and fragrance. A perfumed, pure aromatic of red cherry and cranberry, garden herbs and graphite notes leads to a focused, fresh and precise palate. This is medium-bodied and refreshing with fine tannins.

Selvapiana

This lovely Chianti estate is found in the small, yet exciting district of Rufina. The microclimate here is a very special one with cooling breezes from the Sieve valley giving the wines a genuine finesse. Current owner is Francesco Giuntini, descendant of the original owner, Michele Giuntini who bought Selvapiana in 1827. Francesco’s adopted son Federico Maseti (son of the estate’s manager who worked with the Giuntinis until his death) has been in charge of the day-to-day running for several years. Masseti ‘s passion and understanding is clearly visible in the whole operation with renewed vineyards delivering wonderful fruit. Consultant Franco Bernabei provides his winemaking expertise to great effect, with very good wines being produced year on year. On top of the 50 hectares of vineyards there is a large amount of land given over to woodland and olive groves. Unsurprisingly olive oil is another star product of the estate!
