Hampshire`s The Grange flies the flag for England consistently in our Wine Champions blind tastings, and the current bottling is on remarkable form. ‘Finesse` and ‘class` were consistent tasting-note watchwords, with one 2024 taster describing it as ‘awesome, refined and generous: a classic.`

Cheerful yet elegant English sparkling rosé produced by Society favourites, Ridgeview. The nose offers cherry, strawberry and peach notes whilst the full, rich palate is brimming with strawberry tart and redcurrant flavours with enough weight to stand up to all manner of picnic nibbles.

We’ve been working alongside Ridgeview for close to 25 years, and they’ve been producing our own English fizz since the 2013 vintage. Simon Roberts, the son of the founders, Mike and Christine, continues to make the wine to this day, and we blend this wine with him every January. The key is consistency and freshness, with the wine spending a minimum of 24 months on the yeast lees before disgorgement, and at least six months under cork before arriving on your doorstep. Chardonnay plays the dominant role, sourced partly from Ridgeview’s own fruit, but also from a consistent selection of growers dotted primarily around Sussex and Kent. We’re lucky to have been working with Ridgeview for such a long period, and their business model, as well as the volumes we commit to, means we’ve managed to keep this delicious English fizz at a remarkable price for over a decade.

A distinctive traditional-method sparkling wine showing generous wild strawberry and raspberries on the palate whilst also providing freshness and structure. A year-round rosé fizz from the south-west of England.

Incredibly taut and citrus-driven 100% chardonnay from the wonderful Raimes family in Hampshire. Partially fermented in barrel, this wine undergoes 42 months lees ageing to bring body and complexity to the lemon curd and toast notes. Delicious and mineral now but it will age wonderfully and gain weight and richness over time.
