Natillie Johnston cemented her knowledge and passion for viticulture when she joined this iconic Yarra estate as assistant viticulturist. We see here a nod to the style she would carry forward in her own chardonnays, with bright fruit, focused structure and a driven palate. Made from hand-picked chardonnay sourced from vineyards across the Yarra Valley, this offers a perfect opportunity to taste the Giant Steps house style, under new winemaker Mel Chester. Focused and bright but also soft around the edges, this is a pristine and smart wine. The nose shows a delicate hint of blossom, straw and glacial white fruits, with a slight hint of mouthwatering toffee apple, flinty minerality and all the purity of a fresh mountain stream. The palate is fresh and driven but not too lean. The white-fruit notes continue and are joined by a note of meadow flowers, straw and juicy peach. Primary, fresh and very smart.
