Hermitage La Chapelle, Paul Jaboulet Aîné 1991

Red Wine from France - Rhone
0 star rating 0 Reviews
The Hermitage hillside is a spectacular home for a vineyard. The sun-scorched slopes dominate the towns of Tain l'Hermitage and Tournon in the curve of the river Rhône below. These vineyards, which appear even steeper when one stands among the vines, produce the finest wines in the Rhône Valley. Founded in 1834, Paul Jaboulet Aîné is probably the best known, and one of the oldest négociant in the northern Rhône. They own 22 out of the 137 hectares of Hermitage, including some of the best parts of the Bessards and Hermit vineyards. They also own the eponymous 'La Chapelle', at the top of the hill which gives its name to this wine, widely regarded as the greatest of all Hermitage. 1991 was a particularly successful vintage in the northern Rhône and has produced an aromatic and structed syrah.
