‘Heugumber’ Gutedel, Ziereisen, Baden 2022
Ziereisen has a cult like following in Germany and beyond, yet due to their small size of only 10 hectares, they still fall under the radar. Their vineyards are in the Markgräflerland area, in the south and although Spätburgunder is king in terms of plantings, one of the grapes that they are committed to is the Swiss native grape of gutedel (chasselas). Their minimal interventionist approach produces wine with real soul and character. Attractive hints of reduction combine with lime and plenty of vibrancy from the zesty acidity and a lightness of touch at only 10.5% alcohol and bone dry.
