Red Wine from South Africa - Coastal Region
Perfumed with graphite and tobacco spice, this displays raspberry as well as cassis and a pure, leafy fragrance. The early, warm spring meant Christo Le Riche started picking their cabernet significantly earlier in 2023, fortuitous given the rainfall that was to come; they were halfway through the cab harvest by the time the rains came. This is complex and compelling in its expression of the vintage, displaying a litheness and accessibility of tannins - a specific aim of Christo’s. Fresh and almost zesty, there is a distinctly appetising, sapid character to the wine and a long, moreish finish. Drinking well already in its youth, this also has the structure and elegance to age with grace.
