Magnum of The Wine Society`s Generation Series Vinsobres 2021

Red Wine from France - Rhone
0.000000000 star rating 0 Reviews
Altitude and mountain breezes make Vinsobres the ideal place to source a Côtes-du-Rhône, and this example, made for us by our old friends the Jaume family for our 150th anniversary, has bright open fruity notes of cherry and raspberry, ripe tasting but without any heaviness. More on the wine

The Jaume family are an institution in the village of Vinsobres and have produced over 100 vintages. The first supplied to The Wine Society was 1979, an immediate hit with members who enjoyed the generous fruit and lightness of touch, with altitude playing such an important role. It seemed obvious that Vinsobres, now a Cru of the Rhône Valley should feature in this 150th anniversary range.

The family’s wines are among the best-selling red Rhônes on our list and Vinsobres is a beautiful hillside village in the southern part of the Valley, blessed with extremely well-exposed vineyard sites. A warm welcome awaits visitors here, especially Wine Society members, with Richard’s wife Laurence on hand to meet and greet with genuine pleasure.

This rounded, fairly rich but well balanced Rhône red in a magnum bottle would make a worthy centrepiece at a red meat feast. Expect raspberry and blackberry fruit and some cedary wood spice.
