Mission Estate Gimblett Gravels Reserve Hawke's Bay Syrah 2024

Red Wine from New Zealand - Hawkes Bay
0 star rating 0 Reviews
This syrah comes from the Gimblett Gravels sub-region of Hawkes Bay, which is considered as the best winegrowing area in the wider region. Syrah thrives here, picking up a unique mineral stony quality due to the gravel soils. This particular example is matured in French oak barrels and is a fresh and focused red. The nose shows primary red berry, plum and rhubarb crumble notes, with a savoury underlying hint of black olive. The palate is silky and fresh; vibrant but with depth of flavour. Notes of slate and blackberry join the red fruit flavours, with a peppery finish. Quite distinctly different from wines of the Rhone but a delicious contrast. Mission Estate is New Zealand's most historic winery, founded in 1851, and over the years they have learnt a thing or two about how to get the best out of the Hawke's Bay terroir.
