Mustiguillo Finca Calvestra Merseguera, Utiel Requena 2024

White Wine from Spain - Valencia & Levante
0 star rating 0 Reviews
The chalky, limestone soils of this organic and biodynamic pioneering estate help create a stylish and serious, aromatic white produced from local merseguera grape painstakingly revived by Toni Sarrion from Mustiguillo. Acidity is bright, with a linear yet textured profile, with notes of white flowers, hawthorn, rosemary, sage, quince and a touch of ocean-like salinity. The vines are located at 900m above sea level, and they sit in their own estate DOP 'Terrazo' between Utiel and Requena in the province of Valencia. A Spanish fine white of real class.

But this is white, from the Valencian Merseguera grape – and unexpectedly, both for a white here and for the normally cheap-and-cheerful Merseguera, it’s pretty serious. Organically produced at an altitude of 900m, this is crisp and fresh, white flowers and herbs, yet with complexity and length to it. Impressive
