Soto Manrique 'La Viña de Ayer' Garnacha, Cebreros 2021

Red Wine from Spain - Sierra de Gredos & Extremadura
0 star rating 0 Reviews
The Soto Manrique family offer an excellent-value altitude garnacha from old vines in the Cebreros DO, west of Madrid, in the foothills of the Sierra de Gredos. The vineyards sit between 800 and 1,060m above sea level on granitic and slate soils, interplanted among old pine trees. Fermentation is spontaneous, with partial whole-bunch use, with a deep respect for the land and a hands-off approach. “La Viña de Ayer” is a playful nod to the iconic Spanish pop song 'La Chica de Ayer', evoking a sense of heritage and romance. The wine shows classic Gredos garnacha character: orange peel and Negroni-like bitterness layered with fresh, red fruit and a hints of herbs and flowers. Plump, juicy, and utterly delicious.
