South by South West Margaret River Chenin Blanc 2025
White Wine from Australia - Western Australia
Now back in its Margaret River home rather than Swan Valley, this certified organic wine is all about purity, site expression and detail. The vineyard sits on a super sandy patch in Treeton, close to the Wilyabrup border, and you can feel that coastal freshness from the first sniff. Lifted floral notes of honeysuckle and camomile, a herbal edge and a bright line of citrus. On the palate there’s a core of rounded, full fruit set within a fresh structure, with caramelised lemon and crisp peach bringing generous flavour without ever losing its lightness and finesse. Fermented and matured in 3 and 4 year old Burgundy barriques, it’s settled off heavy lees then kept on fine lees with just a little stirring, building texture and a lovely phenolic frame while keeping oak firmly in the background. Salty, focused and complete on the finish. Behind the scenes, Liv Maiorana and Mij are pushing regenerative viticulture further, with support from the Climate and Nature Programme for a 'unicorn project': a custom mobile chicken trailer to tackle weevils naturally, alongside cover crops and new native planting around the vineyards.
