White Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
A barrel-fermented Marlborough chardonnay that has freshness, breadth and detail. The nose shows a light touch of struck match, bringing savoury complexity without obscuring the fruit, alongside crisp white peach, lemon peel and a subtle nutty note. On the palate there’s a pleasing sense of shape and texture, with white fruit and citrus core flavours supported by gentle toasty richness and a saline, mineral edge. The cooler 2023 season has delivered brightness and definition, keeping the wine taut and energetic despite its underlying weight. Well balanced and confidently made, this is a chardonnay that combines precision with generosity, finishing long, clean and refreshing, and offering plenty of interest both now and over the short to medium term.
