Hanzell Vineyards Sonoma County Chardonnay 2010

There is a toasty lemon curd note on the very tempting nose here, and the palate is mouthwatering with lemon pith, oyster shell and Granny Smith apple concentrated on the core of this beautifully balanced California chardonnay, made in a warm vintage of good yields.

The 2015 vintage is the current release from this fantastic California winery and will benefit from a little time in a decanter. It is tight but tantalising on the nose with lemon, nectarine and a touch of toast, but on the palate the oak disappears, leaving crisp bright acidity and complex flavours of lemon, almond, chalk and apple.

The 2009 of this California pinot is very much open for business, its cranberry and redcurrant core now garlanded with leather, spice, pepper and an alluring autumnal scent. Snap it up while you can.

A cool Californian vintage, producing a particularly perfumed pinot with red-berry fruit and fascinating herb and spice aromas. Silky on the palate but not without tension, it finishes with an intricate mix of sage, rhubarb and black pepper.

The 2015 of this California pinot has a sense of effortless class already but it will age fantastically well. Ripe and raspberry-led on the nose with some enticing strawberry aromas, all joined on the juicy palate by spicy, sappy herbal notes that will unfurl and develop over time.
