More on the wine
Corbières-Boutenac is a relatively new appellation, a first cru for the Corbières appellation, acknowledging the excellence of terroir and a number of outstanding producers making fantastic wines. The rugged hills of the Corbières have become a cherished source of full-bodied reds of excellent quality, and one of members’ favourites in recent years has been Ollieux-Romanis, one of the region’s leading lights with whom we have worked for many years. They were the natural choice to make our Generation Series Corbières having produced our member-favourite Society's version for a long time. The blend here is 45% carignan, 25% mourvèdre, 20% syrah and 10% grenache. It draws its intensity from old vines – 40 to 100 years old – and was aged partly in barrels. Fragrant, black-fruited and smoky, full, rich and long, it’s fine advertisement for this much-loved region.

Garrigue dominates the nose. Carignan leads, with Syrah adding savoury tapenade and Grenache bringing juicy fruit. Plum, blueberry, blackberry and cherry with oregano, thyme and smoked paprika.
