Pouilly-Fumé is one of the classic sauvignon blanc appellations of the Loire’s Central Vineyards, neighbouring Sancerre. This one comes from Domaine Landrat-Guyollot, which unusually has been passed over ten generations from mother to daughter, and the current incumbent is Sophie, who makes her wines thoughtfully, sensitively, in a little village called Les Berthiers, which is just outside Pouilly-sur-Loire, which is the heart of the appellation. In 2018, which was a really hot vintage, the hottest year since 2003, it’s very ripe. All from flint soils this year, so you'll get that minerality coming through and that typical gunflint note that we are familiar with in Pouilly-Fumé. Quite full-flavoured, but it's still got that core of minerality, which keeps it fresh on the palate.
