More on the wine

The wines of Beaujolais appeared frequently in early Wine Society catalogues, either as Moulin-à-Vent or simply labelled as Beaujolais. This example comes from the village of Régnié, which was famed for the quality of its wines as far back as Roman times. Grapes grown in the vineyards surrounding the village regularly found their way into the Beaujolais shipped to our London cellars in the first 50 years of The Society. We put the blend together with Jacques Dépagneux, a négociant with excellent contacts in the Beaujolais region, enabling us to produce this classic, easy-drinking style style of Regnié with good purity and depth of flavour.

Régnié is the youngest beaujolais cru and this is light and silky, with pleasing freshness and depth.
