Yalumba 'The Caley' Coonawarra & Barossa Cabernet Shiraz 2015

Red Wine from Australia - South Australia
0 star rating 0 Reviews
The 2015 The Caley represents the pinnacle of Yalumba’s winemaking, an elegant union of two noble varieties and regions: 74% cabernet sauvignon from Coonawarra’s Ming D block and 26% shiraz from two historic Barossa vineyards. Named in honour of Fred Caley Smith, horticulturist, adventurer and grandson of Yalumba’s founder, this wine is crafted with longevity and precision in mind. The vintage delivered small, concentrated berries in both regions, with Coonawarra contributing freshness, definition and structure, while the Barossa component adds spice and richness. The nose is layered and refined, offering aromas of green olive, iodine, leafy herbs and complex florals, underpinned by redcurrant and spice from the shiraz. Aged for 21 months in French oak (46% new), the palate shows richness and precision with seamless tannins and beautifully judged acidity. Deep, dense and structured, The Caley 2015 is drinking beautifully now with decanting but will also cellar for many years more.
