For body, read warmth: malbec or cabernet grown in south-west France don’t (yet!) have the heft of the same varieties grown in Mendoza or Napa. But some varieties are guaranteed to be generous, notably zinfandel or grenache in its many guises, from Châteauneuf to Rioja to the southern hemisphere’s Rhône rangers.
