Being the nephew of the Northern Rhône legend Noël Verset, Franck Balthazar probably felt a lot of pressure to make great wine weighing on his shoulders. Helped by prized vineyards and natural talent, he has gained a huge following for his Cornas. It is his Côtes-du-Rhône that really delivers for the price and is worth exploring. From vineyards around Séguret at altitude and planted to a mix of grenache and syrah, the 2024 is a cooler expression this year and produces and energetic and fruit forward style with plenty of acidity and a finesse on the palate.
