Invincible, Douro 2021

Red Wine from Portugal - Douro Valley
0 star rating 0 Reviews
A wine with great colour and fruit intensity coupled with a wonderful purity and freshness rare in the Douro's reds. The aromas and flavours of dark berry fruits are complemented by hints of rose and woody herbs, and elegant oak handling. On the palate, mineral freshness intermingles with caressing textures of silk and satin, with the finest of tannins providing ample structure to support ripe but fresh black fruits, finished with a hint of the classiest bitter chocolate. The label design is unique to the 2021 vintage, based on a William Kentridge original Vindima 2000, an illustration etched onto a page of Mrs Beaton's Household Management. Drink from 2024 to 2036. 14%

Companhia de Vinhos Invencivel

The Companhia de Vinhos Invencivel, to give it its full name, Or Invincible, as we know it, is an exciting new venture we jumped at being among the first to work with.

Rita Marques has quietly, thoughtfully, been making wine in the Douro Valley for years now. Then one of those wonderful wine world exchanges of culture and winemaking experience resulted in a friendship resulted in a friendship and collaboration with Marc Kent, long-term cellarmaster and director of Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa.

Different people from different continents and winemaking experiences, but a meeting of minds, they have now taken the leap of investing in an old Quinta and tiny winery in the beautiful Douro, putting their own collective stamp on the resulting wines.
