Urziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese, Merkelbach 2022
This tiny one-hectare estate up is a favourite amongst Mosel fanatics. Run by two brothers, Alfred and Rolf Merkelbach, until they were in their late 70s, since their deaths in 2023 and 2024 the Selbach family have taken up the reins of this wonderful estate. It produces traditional and rather special riesling from the steep, slate slopes of the Mosel. Superb balance with zesty acidity and a juicy core full of apricots and orange blossom as well as grapefruit and flinty notes.
