This juicy stone-fruit and tropical-flavoured chenin blanc is a great value introduction to the Swartland.

Rioja is Spain's pre-eminent wine region, renowned for its graceful, stylish wines, mainly from the tempranillo grape. The Society's Rioja is made in the classic, traditional style that Society members so adore by Bodegas Palacio, who are based in the spectacular fortified village of Laguardia. Ageing in oak for 15 months results in a smooth, mellow and juicy tempranillo with red-fruit flavour complemented by hallmark savoury, leathery complexity. The ageing of wine in barrels is absolutely integral to winemaking in Rioja, and our new label for this member favourite pays homage to the cooperage tools that are used to make these traditional vessels.

Pinotage takes the lead in this fresh and spicy Cape Blend of young Stellenbosch syrah with older bush-vine pinotage from Swartland. The grapes were lightly crushed and gently handled in the cellar to produce a dark-cherry-flavoured red with approachable tannins. This still-youthful wine benefits from a decant two hours before serving. Certified by the Wine & Agricultural Ethical Trade Association and Integrated Wine Production organisation, Radford Dale go the extra yard to make themselves more sustainable, and we’re delighted to name them a Wine Society Pioneer for their efforts. They farm their Elgin vineyards organically and they follow a low-interventionist approach in the winery, stating ‘If it's not in the grape, it's not in the wine’. Of their two wineries, one is entirely off grid and uses only rainwater for its needs and has a wetland purification system while the other operates 50% on solar power. They compost vineyard waste, recycle other materials as much as they can. Biodiversity is encouraged, with ducks eating unwanted snails, raptor perches installed and seeding wildflowers and allowing some weeds to flourish. In the community, their Land of Hope scheme has been running 20 years, with 50% of profits put in a trust for the education of children of staff from maternity onwards.

Lovely 80% sauvignon blanc and 20% semillon blend. Sauvignon blanc has a lovely fresh and zesty nose while the semillon lend structure to the palate. It's made by the talented Cristobal Undurraga.

Fresh, rose-petal scented Chilean gewürztraminer made from organically farmed vineyards. The name of the wine reflects this producer`s commitment to sustainable production. The ‘Silbador` is an insect-eating bird found in the vineyards whose presence means that Emiliana do not have to use pesticides on their vines and other crops.

We are thrilled that star producer Paul Jaboulet Aîné produce this wine exclusively for The Wine Society. Fruity, juicy and plenty of character, always vibrant thanks to its Mont Ventoux origins. This member favourite is predominately grenache with a little syrah in the blend. Expect a delicious palate of red berries, liquorice and red plums with a touch of spice. There's lots of energy thanks to a slightly cooler 2024 vintage.

Ripe yet fresh tannat, with bright blackberry fruit on the palate and mild tannins. Fermented and matured in tank to capture the fruit. Each year buyer Toby Morrhall blends this wine with Pisano's winemakers, Gustavo and Gabriel Pisano, aiming to produce a good introduction to Uruguayan tannat, with the accent on fruit, with a certain mild blackberry grip but avoiding dry tannins. Ripe, unoaked chardonnay from just west of the historic city of Carcassonne. Pennautier is the outstanding estate in this area with a proper, Versailles-inspired château. The wine is a lovely match for white meats and mildly spiced dishes.

Soft, round and very easy on the palate, this is a full-flavoured Mediterranean white from the south of France. Herby, citrusy and mouth-watering.

This joint venture between Marlborough legend Ben Glover of Zephyr and Master of Wine Liam Steevenson marries serious winemaking know how with a genuine commitment to sustainability, from packaging to people and land. The 2024 Marlborough vintage delivers freshness and precision and this is a fine expression of it. The nose is juicy and inviting, with stone fruit, crisp apple and a subtle kiwi fruit lift. On the palate it is lean and focused but full of energy, showing ripe pear, lemon and lime framed by bright, mouthwatering acidity. Electric, vibrant and refreshing, this is classic Marlborough sauvignon with clarity, balance and real drinkability.

This Chilean carmenère is a good entry-level example of this variety, with its black-pepper nose and ripe, juicy and succulent palate.
