First release: Jasse Castel 2023/24 & Bardi d’Alquier 2024

This is an historic cuvée based on a plot of syrah that was planted in 1967, early for the Languedoc. Grenache and mourvèdre are included in the blend for added depth and complexity. The 2024 is pure and classy with real fruit density, silky tannins and great energy and lift. Great wine in a Rhône-like style. Drink from 2027 to 2037. 14.5%

This cuvée from one of the Languedoc's great estates brings together syrah, grenache and mourvèdre, from 30-year-old vines, barrel-aged for a year, but without new oak. The 2024 vintage was cooler than the previous two and has resulted in wines of great balance. This displays impressive finesse, with black-cherry fruit and a peppery finish. Benchmark Faugères. Drink from 2027 to 2032. 14.5%

A full-bodied syrah-dominant red, with grenache and cinsault in support, from one of Terrasses du Larzac's most highly regarded estates. Deeply coloured and concentrated, with luscious, ripe fruit. Drink from 2027 to 2030. 14.5%

Pascale Rivière is an exciting vigneronne working several small plots of stony vineyard on a wind swept plateau above the pretty village of Montpeyroux. Combariolles is one of her best wines and is made up from a majority of grenache. Wonderful full-bodied, with plush cherry fruit and subtle spice. Fireside drinking with a big wintry stew. Drink from 2027 to 2030. 14.5%

Maison Jaune is made from 60 year old vines and is grenache-dominated, with syrah, mourvèdre and carignan in support. There is old-vine concentration here, richly textured, yet wonderfully scented and juicy. The 2024 has especially vibrant fruit, and a finish that goes on and on. Drink from 2027 to 2035. 14.5%

Wonder-woman Pascale Rivière does pretty much everything herself on her estate and this is one of her best wines. Grenache dominates, with syrah and counoise, blended to create a dark, fruit-driven wine with complexity and bags of energy. Drink from 2027 to 2033. 14.5%
