The nose is immediately captivating, bursting with blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry layered over earth, spice and deep florals. With air, the wine evolves constantly, revealing pretty hints of mint, violet and eucalyptus, all seamlessly woven into the fruit. The contribution from Vanguardist’s Rende vineyard adds lifted perfume and sandy elegance, while Margaret River’s cabernet brings classical bay leaf and graphite notes. On the palate it’s poised and beautifully layered, each component revealing itself in turn, with vibrant purple fruits, savoury undertones and a fine, fresh herbal thread. The tannins are perfectly pitched: grippy yet refined, framing the generous fruit with precision and drive. The finish bursts with complexity, carrying waves of sweet and savoury notes that linger long after the last sip. A superbly balanced, complete wine which is vibrant now but with many chapters still to unfold as it ages. This is a story in a glass. Drink from 2027 to 2038. 13.8%
