Cornas Les Empreintes, Domaine Durand 2020

Red Wine from France - Rhone
0 star rating 0 Reviews
This great-value blend comes from plots in the best parts of Cornas. As usual I tasted from several barrels. Patou brings dense black fruit, Chaillots imparts structure and Teyziers concentration. The combination will be worth waiting for. Drink from 2025 to 2032. 13.5%

Domaine Durand

The Durands still farm apricots as well as their 20 hectares of vineyards, and have only been making their own wine since the 1980s. Today the two brothers, Joel and Eric, who run the estate, farm good plots in the best parts of Cornas, including Patou, Chaillots and Mazard, and work to make an approachable style of wine without any rusticity.

They work hard and manually in the vineyards, using sustainable methods, and have a modern approach to winemaking and are on an upward curve as the wines improve.

As well as their excellent Cornas, they make some Saint-Joseph and a little Saint-Péray white, plus a small parcel of vines in Collines Rhodaniennes from which they make an IGP viognier.
