Domaine Dujac Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Aux Combottes 2022
Red Wine from France - Burgundy
Bordering Morey St Denis, Les Combottes is a superbly situated premier cru, sandwiched between grands crus Latricières Chambertin and Clos de la Roche. The nose combines the freshness from the whole bunch with red and black fruit from the ripe vintage. This has firm tannins without dryness, and a powerful natural concentration. Quite closed but will open out beautifully with time. Low stock: Limited to one bottle per member.

Domaine Dujac
This domaine in Morey-Saint-Denis was acquired by Jacques Seysses in 1967, whose reputation as one of the great Burgundian winemakers is still positively felt. Seysses not only built up his own fine domaine but also helped many others who passed through on their own way to success. The property, which was originally just 4 hectares, gradually grew to the 11.5 hectares it is today including holdings in Clos de la Roche, Clos St-Denis, Bonnes-Mares, Echézeaux and Charmes-Chambertin.
Jacques is now semi-retired and has handed much of the day-to-day running to eldest son Jeremy and his wife Diana, a qualified oenologist in her own right. No herbicides or fungicides have been used since 1986 with traditional, sustainable farming methods employed as far as possible and natural pests encouraged. At harvest time a huge investment is made in carefully weeding out green berries on the vines, leaving only those which are fully ripe. It is such attention to detail which helps mark out great domaines from the simply good and also makes vintages matter less than they otherwise might. None of the wines are filtered nor fined with all of the premiers and grands crus aged in 100% new oak.
