Dow's Vintage Port 1970
Port from Portugal - Douro Valley
Unlike Tawny Port, Vintage Port spends only a short time in cask before continuing its slow evolution in bottle, in this case for more than five decades. Produced from one of the Douro's greatest vintages, Dow's 1970 combines concentration with impeccable balance. The nose is packed with ripe cherries, plums and hints of violets, while the palate remains surprisingly youthful, with abundant fruit supported by a firm tannic core and a long, complex finish. Dow's own two of the Douro's best estates, Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, and this beautifully mature Vintage Port is a fitting testament to both the quintas and the exceptional quality of the 1970 harvest. Decant before serving.
