Nyetimber Brut Classic Cuvée, Sussex 2009
So good was Nyetimber’s 2009 vintage that this wine won twice at our Wine Champions blind tasting – in bottle and in magnum! Selected from this Sussex star’s reserve stocks, it has the gorgeous toasty richness that comes with maturity, but remains fresh and focused, with gorgeous white-fruit flavour.
Nyetimber Brut Classic Cuvée NV
A 2022 Wine Champion, this is a superb English sparkling wine more than a decade in the planning, Nyetimber’s multi-vintage wine is a full-flavoured, savoury standard-bearer. Predominantly chardonnay alongside pinots noir and meunier, the blend is aged for more than three years on its yeast lees to add extra complexity and class. It drew high praise from our Champions tasting panel and buyer Matthew Horsley loved its ‘lovely toasty character, richness and weight’.
The Grange, Hampshire Classic Brut NV
England’s exceptional showing this year is testament to remarkably speedy progress, and few wines exemplify this better than The Grange. That these vines were only planted in the 11th year of Wine Champions, and the wine won in the 21st, is quite a thought. Incredibly racy, almost sherbetty, this is a deftly balanced, exciting new addition.
The Society's Exhibition English Sparkling Wine NV
Produced exclusively for us by Ridgeview in Sussex this classic method sparkling wine uses the three classic Champagne grapes of pinots noir and meunier, and chardonnay and has spent further time on the lees to give extra savoury character alongside the taut citrus and apple notes. Perfect for celebrating the English spring and summer.
Camel Valley Pinot Noir Rosé Brut 2019
Elegant and eminently drinkable pinot noir rosé from the masters of the style and the only UK winery to hold a Royal Warrant, Camel Valley. A distinctive traditional-method sparkling wine showing generous wild strawberry and raspberries on the palate whilst also providing freshness and structure. A year-round rosé fizz from the south-west of England.
Raimes Blanc de Blancs, Hampshire 2016
Incredibly taut and citrus-driven 100% chardonnay from the wonderful Raimes family in Hampshire. Partially fermented in barrel, this wine undergoes 42 months lees ageing to bring body and complexity to the lemon curd and toast notes. Delicious and mineral now but it will age wonderfully and gain weight and richness over time.
