CVNE
Founded in Haro in 1879 by brothers Raimundo and Eusebio Real de Asúa, CVNE remains family-owned and one of Rioja’s most reliable producers, making classy wines with excellent ageing potential. Its grapes come from the Rioja Alta and are hand-picked, with tempranillo, garnacha, mazuelo and graciano predominating. The flagship Imperial label, first produced in the 1920s, is one of Rioja’s most famous names. Imperial Reserva is aged for two years in American and French oak and a further two in bottle, while the Gran Reserva, made only in the best vintages, spends three years in barrel and at least four in bottle.
