Wines included
Château Ordonnat, Graves 2022
A medium-bodied blend of 40% cabernet sauvignon and 60% merlot from a fine property in the commune of Langon. With pure fruit and ripe tannins this is a deliciously drinkable Graves at a very fair price.
Château de Pitray, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux 2023
Sourced from clay-limestone slopes, this Right Bank red reveals a fragrance of ripe plum and sweet baking spices, easing into a supple, medium-bodied palate balanced by velvety tannins and a clean, fruit-forward finish.
Château Fourcas-Borie, Listrac 2016
From a fine property owned by Bruno Borie of Ducru Beaucaillou from the outstanding 2016 vintage this is at the perfect point of maturity, balancing the power and dark-fruit from this warm vintage with the savoury spice and cigar notes form maturation. A blend of 68% merlot, 21% cabernet sauvignon, and 11% petit verdot with 12 months in oak of which 20% was new this is the perfect accompaniment to your Autumnal recipes. Still showing plenty of colour and depth we'd recommend decanting for an hour before drinking to really show this classy Listrac at its best.
Château de la Grave ‘Grains Fins’, Côtes de Bourg 2025
This unusual organic blend of 60% semillon and 40% colombard is fresh and creamy with a lovely rounded texture. The wine is part fermented and matured in large oak barrels for an extra dimension, adding a creamy texture without masking the delightful aromas and flavours of white fruits and flowers. Philippe and Valérie Bassereau, long time suppliers of the Society for excellent, good value red, have been making a small quantity of original white for several years. They started with around three acres in 1997 and have planted steadily since with their son, Lou, now taking charge of the cellar. Traditional semillon is the base, but here it is accompanied by c. 30% colombard, something of a speciality in the Bourg appellation.
Château Mazeris, Canon-Fronsac 2020
From a property built in 1769 just outside of Libourne and still owned by the de Cournuaud family, this is a rich, ripe, and generously fruited Canon Fronsac produced by the son of the current owner, Jean, who is also the winemaker at flagship Saint-Emilion property Beau-Séjour Bécot. The same opulence and expertise can be found here with an appealing minerality and tension on the core. Dense yet soft tannins give great structure to the wine and the finish is long and fresh.
Château du Courlat Cuvée Jean Baptiste, Lussac Saint-Emilion 2020
Full-bodied right-bank Bordeaux with spicy, grippy tannins and fresh, mineral finish this cuvée is a selection of the best grapes from old vines, aged in barrel to add finesse. A perfumed and harmoniously balanced claret. The Bourotte family own several well-regarded properties on Bordeaux`s right bank. This property is in the satellite appellation of Lussac-Saint-Emilion and has been in the hands of Jean-Baptiste Audy - the négociant company founded by the man of the same name in 1906 – for several decades. Their properties include Clos du Clocher in Pomerol, still run by Jean-Baptiste's descendants and since 2003 his great-grandson Jean-Baptiste Bourotte. Du Courlat's 17 hectares of vines have an average age of 25 years and are planted on the slopes of Lussac with a large lake at their centre. Four hectares of this are dedicated to the company's first wine, Cuvée Jean-Baptiste, named in honour of the company's founder.
The Society's Claret 2024
This friendly and fresh-tasting claret is one of The Wine Society`s most consistently popular wines. Supplied for over a quarter of a century by family-owned Maison Sichel, the bespoke blend varies from vintage to vintage, but merlot takes the lead role, and the wine is made without any oak to avoid masking its bright, red and black-fruit flavours. This is made to be drunk young, on its own or with a wide variety of dishes. The label for this perennial favourite shows three muses that can also be seen on the Grand Theatre opera house in Bordeaux itself.
Château Lary-Tagot, Bordeaux 2024
Fruity and easy-drinking unoaked claret with a fine texture and charm. From a property that produces outstanding value wines with true Bordeaux character this is merlot-dominant and brimming with bramble and plum notes.
Château Pey La Tour Réserve, Bordeaux Superieur 2022
Easily one of the best Pey La Tour we`ve tasted from this model estate in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers. For a wine so modestly priced, it offers tremendous bang for your buck. Predominantly merlot (90%) it has inky purple colour and ripe, concentrated fruit with great poise and length. Punches well above its weight, as always.
Château Bauvallon, Bordeaux 2024
Approachable and juicy red-fruited Bordeaux from a relatively recent discovery that provides uncomplicated, affordable, authentic claret.
Château La Grave Bertin Réserve, Bordeaux 2025
A young, vibrant, unoaked Bordeaux combining plump merlot with savoury cabernets franc and sauvignon. Consistently good claret from the highly regarded Furt family.
A de Château d'Arche, Bordeaux Blanc 2024
With pale colour and notes of citrus, cut grass and passion fruit, this is a refreshing and highly appealing white Bordeaux blend of 90% semillon and 10% sauvignon blanc from the vineyards of classed growth Sauternes property Château d'Arche. It has been aged partially in barrel for added complexity and weight.
