La Conseillante has consistently been one of the top properties on the Right Bank since winemaker Marielle Cazaux took over in 2015, and the 2025 is another triumph. Situated between Cheval Blanc and L’Évangile, and just a stone’s throw from Pétrus, the wines are always charming, distinguished and characterful, yet never forced. The 2025 – a blend of 87% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 3% cabernet sauvignon – has typically dark blackberry and blueberry fruit aromas, with notes of clove, nutmeg and a hint of toasted cedar. The palate is full, rich, sweet and unctuous but – crucially – finishes bone dry with real precision. It is the sort of wine that puts a smile on your face. Marielle believes that the Pomerol plateau always performs well in warm, dry vintages, and this is a brilliant example and at just 13.5%. This wine comes in a wooden case. Drink from 2034 to 2048. 13.5%
