Domaine Ghislaine Barthod

At 18hl/ha, this is the smallest crop the domaine has made since Ghislaine started in 1986, with mainly shatter (coulure) and some hens and chickens (coulure and millerandage) accounting for 70% of the loss. Volumes available are therefore tiny. Harvest began 15th September with potential alcohols of around 11.5%, chaptalised to a maximum of 12.5%. Chambolle’s delicate fruit seems to prosper in the cooler vintages and faithfully reflects the different vineyard sites. Ghislaine’s son Clément Boillot has overseen viticulture and vinification since 2018, notably shortening barrel maturation from 18 to 12 months to capture the fruit. There was no new oak in 2024 for the Chambolle or Bourgogne, and just 10% for the premiers crus.
